The Background

A major supplier of Drilling Products to the Oil and Gas sector were establishing a chemical blending and storage facility in Angola to facilitate the manufacture and distribution of chemicals to their major customers engaged in oil and gas production.

The Challenge

To transport a total of 10 out of gauge storage and blending tanks of varying size and weight from Doncaster to Pointe Noire for onward delivery into Angola.

The total shipment comprised:

2 off 10,000L bulk storage tanks
5 off 55,400L bulk storage tanks
2 off 1,000L blending units
1 off 20,840L diesel bulk storage tank

The Approach

KC Group Shipping Oil and Gas Division, arranged for the tanks to be collected from the supplier on suitable low-loader equipment. The tanks were transported from Doncaster to Killingholme near Immingham where they were loaded onto a roro ferry for the short-sea crossing to Antwerp.
Upon arrival In Antwerp, the tanks were transhipped onto a Safmarine MPV (Multi Purpose Vessel) for the final leg of the shipment to Pointe Noire. KC Group Shipping attended to all documentary requirements along the way.

The Results

The shipment was delivered on time and to the customers’ total satisfaction.
