Sponsoring Young Enterprise Lanarkshire
The actor Kevin Spacey once said, "If you're lucky enough to do well, it's your responsibility to send the elevator back down"!
At KC Group Shipping we love the sentiment of this statement.
As a business and within our own personnel we firmly believe that having the facility to improve and impact on the lives of people, is as rewarding as it is beneficial.
We recently were invited to attend a Young Enterprise event and see for ourselves what this charity organisation brings to young people throughout the UK. We loved it! It inspired us and we immediately found ourselves enquiring as to how KC Group Shipping could support.
We've found that fit in more ways than one and are excited by our involvement.
David Milne, Commercial Director at KC Group Shipping explains more:
"The Young Enterprise organisation was brought to my attention through a supplier partner, who was fully aware of our organisation's approach to reinvesting back into our community and making a difference. The fact that Young Enterprise, as an organisation is driven by making a difference for the youth of the United Kingdom, as well as having business development principals significantly appealed to KC Group Shipping.
For 2014/2015 KC Group Shipping has agreed to be a corporate finance sponsor to Young Enterprise Lanarkshire, assisting in the delivery of critical training and support workshops to not only encourage these emerging entrepreneurs but also provide the necessary support funds that any charitable organisation is dependent on.
As an individual, I was very encouraged by the work of the organisation, in addition to the drive, innovation and commitment seen by the young people representing their schools through the programme. These positive attributes resulted in my commitment to become a Business adviser to the St Andrews and St Brides school team.
A journey for me is about to begin and I am looking forward to be able to offer my own business skills to support these driven youngsters in their own journey.
I wish all teams involved, throughout the country every success and I firmly believe this opportunity will benefit communities throughout the UK for years to come."
Young Enterprise is the UK's largest enterprise education charity and was founded in 1962, by Walter Salomon. The organisation has grown over these years and In 2012, Young Enterprise worked with 220,000 young people aged 4 to 25 in 5,000 schools, colleges and universities with help from volunteers from 3,500 businesses.
Young Enterprise's pioneering Start-up scheme to help university students launch their own business booms as the economic downturn triggers a surge towards graduate self- employment.
KC Group Shipping would encourage any organisation with the facility to offer support, through financial means, or through individual time to assist, to do just that, for this cause.
We will of course keep you fully updated on all the activities across Young Enterprise and especially the Young Enterprise Lanarkshire teams and we wish David and the St Andrews and St Brides team every success!
