Felixstowe Port workers announce eight days of strikes starting 21 August

Unless last-minute negotiations at the conciliation service ACAS are successful, Felixstowe Port workers are set to walk out over pay levels from 21-29 August.

The UK's biggest container port, Felixstowe, employs 1,900 workers, servicing an annual tonnage of 30,000,000, accounting for 48% of containers brought into the UK. The port also includes three rail freight terminals which will also be affected by the strike.

The industrial action will cause huge disruption throughout the UK supply chain and also affect exports. Ocean carriers serving the port have adopted a "wait and see" strategy, as there are few options to overcarry UK imports, given that other North European hubs remain congested.

As our customers have come to expect from KC Group Shipping, we will contact all customers with shipments currently booked from Felixstowe during and after this period to discuss alternative options and ensure as little disruption as possible for their supply chain needs.
